Recognizing your reflection in the mirror is something all humans can do by the age of 2. It’s a sign of self awareness and higher intelligence that very few animal species have.
For example, cats and dogs fail the mirror test. They think their reflection is another animal. On the other hand, chimps are able to recognize their reflection, but it can take them a while to figure it out.
