Keeping the elephants safe from the poachers requires more effort than people realize. These Kenya rangers were just on patrol when they saw a baby elephant stuck inside a water hole. At first they thought his family left because they weren’t able to get him out but they decided to babysit for a day and see if they would return.

As the sun was setting they thought the little guy would never see his herd again but then the calf heard something and the rangers stepped aside. The moment when the baby saw its mom and rushed towards her is probably the most endearing moment I’ve ever seen.
