Diver Sees A Mysterious Statue Of Jesus Underwater. When He Takes a Photo, I Gasped!!

This statue of Jesus Christ that stands on the bottom of the ocean near Florida Keys looks like the last surviving item from a ship that sunk centuries ago, but the truth is that it was never meant to be displayed in church. Its incredible history is told by the person who had the privilege to take the most awesome photos of it, underwater photographer Stephen Weir.

Sculpted in clay by the Italian sculptor Guido Galletti in the 50s, the original cast still stands below the sea in Portofino, Italy. The replica was cast from the same mold and given to the US as a gift and was eventually put in the first underwater park in the country where Jesus of the Abyss still stand as a silent sentinel of the coral reef.
