National Geographic photographer Paul Nicklen recalls a photo shoot that almost cost him his life and interestingly enough it didn’t involve lions or crocs; it involved seemingly cute and friendly seals.

Even though clumsy on land, seals’ natural environment is water. They’re extraordinary killers with no fear of funny looking creatures in wetsuits. It’s safe to say Paul would have been happy just to get out of it alive but it ended up being one of the most unique experiences in the world… and he’s got photos to prove it.
