Dealing with a stump after you fell a tree is one of those things that can only be done with brute force. Sure you can try and use fire or carve it into a woodworking masterpiece, but in the end the best solution is to pull those roots out.
If you don’t have a bulldozer at your disposal there’s a trick you can try with your car. It uses leverage to greatly reduce the pulling power required to uproot the stump. It’s easy to make, all you need is an A-frame and a log split in half to serve as a pivot point and the results are much cleaner than using heavy machinery.
