The life of a 52 year old elephant named Shirley has been scared with pain and tragedy. Forced to perform in a circus since she was a baby, shipwrecked and injured by another elephant, 20 years ago she found herself retired and homeless. When this small Louisiana zoo gave her home, little was understood about how much elephants need company of their kin, and she spent 2 decades in solitude.
