Wrongfully Imprisoned Man Is Released After 36 Years. His Reaction To Freedom Will Bring You To Tears
Back in 1978 a biker named J. T. McGarry disappeared and was later found dead some 30 miles from his home. After a dodgy investigation and a trial in which many evidence was hidden from the defense attorneys, Michael Hanline was convicted for a crime he never committed.
Back in 2010, California Innocence Project uncovered the missing favorable evidence and required an additional DNA test which led to the Michael sentence to be overturned. On November 24, 2014 Michael Hanline walked out a free man 36 years after being wrongfully convicted. He was the longest wrongful incarceration in California history and you’ll be surprised when you see the first thing he asked for when he got out.
